News: TAG Heuer and Porsche join forces on the Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Racing Orange
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Racing Orange model—showcasing both brands’ enduring passion for racing—is the sixth collaboration from this dynamic duo.
The Carrera is, therefore, the perfect TAG model to be used as a base for this bright new watch, with its history rooted in motorsport and a name dedicated to the Carrera Panamericana race held in Mexico—so dangerous that it was cancelled in 1955 before being resurrected in 1988 in a slightly safer format.
Aesthetically, this watch oozes sporty-cool with its contrasting black and orange colourway. The latter was inspired by the colour of the heat sparks made by a car on the asphalt. It also nods to the colour of fire, an emblematic symbol of speed.
This bold shade of orange is splashed across the timepiece from the embossed black calfskin strap to the diamond-like carbon (DLC) treated case, the highest-quality black treatment possible.
Powering this Carrera is the brand’s much-used Calibre HEUER 02, an automatic movement with a relatively large power reserve of 80 hours. This attractive movement is visible through the open caseback, which is a huge plus-point. This means you can admire the Geneva striping, distinctive orange column wheel and the oh-so-cool custom-designed black DLC-treated oscillating weight, which pays homage to the classic Porsche steering wheel.
